Abstract

Forty years after a similar retrospective on ozone research at Oxford by Dobson in 1968, a review and synthesis is presented of the scientific and technological advances that were possible during the period from 1970 to 2010 as a result of the deployment of a number of innovative instruments on meteorological satellites by a research group in the Atmospheric Physics department at Oxford University. © 2011 Royal Meteorological Society.
