We are continually discovering inscribed objects in our researches at Babylon, at Ibraheem Alkhaleel [Borsippa], and here, and at the former place we have come upon what seems a silversmith's establishment, and recovered from it some Babylonian ornaments, a few Roman coins, and about 500 ounces of silver bullion. Some of the coins are actually cut in two or three pieces for the purpose, I suppose, of smelting. The silver bullion I have made over to the Ottoman authorities with the exception of a small piece which I have reserved for the British Museum. ..."
