Abstract

In a survey of 4287 necropsies on non-domesticated species of birds, cataracts were observed in 18 (0.4%). Sixteen different species belonging to 7 orders were affected. Most were old birds. The highest percentages occurred in Falconiformes (2.3) and Cuculiformes (2.25). In only two birds were cataracts thought to be congenital. Cataracts unassociated with senility were rare. © 1977, American Industrial Hygiene Association. All rights reserved.
