Abstract

Based on the multi-body dynamics, this paper discusses the modeling process and the kinematic simulation of the Active Front Steering system (AFS) with double planetary gears, and then builds the multi-body vehicle model with the help of ADAMS/Car software. Finally, this paper discusses the riding & handling of the vehicle with AFS by comparison with the traditional steering system. The simulation results show that the AFS can improve the vehicle stability, and the built multi-body dynamics model can provide some references for the further control research of AFS. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
