Abstract

This work has been prepared with the aim of analyzing the evolution and conditions of digital skills in Ecuador in recent years, as well as contextualizing it in relation to the global and regional scope, using official data from the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and the Ecuadorian Institute of Statistics and Censuses, in addition to other institutions. The results show that the conditions for the development of digital skills both at the regional and national levels have improved, but there is still a long way to go for developed nations. Likewise, there is a preference for the use of ICT for entertainment purposes instead of productivity, which reflects a lack of optimization in the use of technologies to generate economic well-being, which is why there is a lack of skills for the development of new technologies.
