Abstract

Circular arrays have the advantage of certain inherent features like pattern steering capabilities. However, synthesis of circular arrays is a complex issue. Accordingly, the design of circular antenna array is dealt in this work while the objective of design is side-lobe level control. The synthesis is performed using social behavior inspired optimization technique known as social group optimization. The produced patterns are compared with those of the uniform distribution of circular arrays. The circular array of 20, 30 and 50 elements is designed with the SLL of −25 dB as target. The simulated radiation pattern plots are useful to carry out the analysis.
