Abstract

Polyimides having flexible segments via aminofunctional siloxane incorporation have been synthesized. As anticipated, improved tractability and solubility have resulted. There are a variety of compositions depending on the nature of the dianhydride, aromatic amine and the nature of the aminofunctional siloxane and/or polysiloxane. The electrical, mechanical and thermal properties will vary again, depending on the composition of the formulation and lie between silicones on one end and an all-aromatic polyimide composition on the other end.
