Abstract

Binge eating, bulimia nervosa, and hedonic overeating share a critical common component; namely, overeating that involves a lack of healthy restraint. However, these constructs are distinct from one another and are related to differential correlates and outcomes in human beings. Notably, all three behaviors can be modeled in animals, thus providing important insights to inform human research. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
