Abstract

This paper describes the design of web-based software for visually exploring organizational social networks. The software's target user group consists of business professionals and organizational design consultants who wish to apply network analysis to a practical problem but lack the sophistication required to use advanced software packages. Particular emphasis is placed on using multiple layouts, aggregation and filtering to reduce cognitive complexity and improve usability. Implementation details will also be briefly discussed. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
