Various clinical situations in the ICU that will involve a pediatric anesthesiologist are discussed. A patient with ARDS may need a surgical procedure or require cannulation to ECMO. Children with multiorgan system failure (MOSF) come to the OR for therapeutic or diagnostic procedures. Other specific conditions reviewed include acute pancreatitis, hemolytic uremic syndrome, and closed head trauma.
