Abstract

A growing number of cities have been going green. While this concept has different meanings in different communities, it reflects a growing concern of large and small cities to be aware and proactive about their environment, their resources, and their impact on climate. Now organizations throughout the United States and around the world have grown into powerful groups, advocating a range of sustainable strategies. The Local Government Commission (LGC) is one such organization. © 2009 Springer-Verlag New York.
