Abstract

The article is devoted to the problems of ESG risk management (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) in implementing megaprojects. The essence of megaprojects and their features are considered. The essence of the ESG concept is analyzed, and the definition of ESG risks is given. Shareholders and management investigate the features of ESG risk identification and management. In the practical part of the study, the main trends in implementing China’s water management megaprojects under the Belt and Road Initiative (OECD (2018) are analyzed, ESG risks of these projects are investigated, and recommendations on risk management are given.
