Abstract

Mexico is in a privileged place when we talk about Latin American countries regarding the knowledge that we have about cognitive behavioral therapy and evidence-based therapies. Important institutions have excellent research teams, and there are currently several CBT training and education centers, many of them affiliated with pioneering or leading institutions in this area, allowing you to be in contact with the most up-to-date research data, assessment tools, and intervention methods. With these great advantages regarding the quantity and quality of information, we still cannot say that psychological practices based on evidence occupy a predominant place in the daily performance of clinicians in Mexico; however we cannot deny that development continues to rise with the goal of improving mental health services. Institutions not affiliated with the government sector currently have a valuable role and in collaboration with clinicians who have had previous training in CBT do a great job of dissemination and professional training. This effort has resulted in greater interest not only by psychologists but also from the university community, a population that is of vital importance for the future of psychological interventions in Mexico.
