Abstract

This paper uses a hybrid intelligence algorithm to reduce the producing cost of a low-voltage microgrid system equipped with a micro-turbine, fuel cell, solar system, and pumped hydro storage. Demand side management (DSM) has been implemented as the cost- management tool and the positive impacts of DSM have been analyzed in detail. Result shows that inclusion of pico hydro storage system helped in dipping the generation cost of the MG structure which was further lowered by implementing DSM strategy. Among positive impact of DSM are peak reductions and load factor improvement which is also portrayed in the results. Incorporating a pumped hydro storage system along with the RES (solar PV system) helped in minimizing the generation cost. This happened primarily because the pumping mode of pumped storage was powered by the PV system and no fuel cost was incurred. Projected hybrid WOASCA yield superior class outcome than the other algorithms compared with.
