Abstract

This paper focuses upon the requirement to save and restore application state as part of the execution of recovery blocks. Using he objectoriented features of the revised Ada language, we present a portable implementation of a state management scheme that is fully independent of applications. Results of the implementation of this mechanism are used to highlight both the strengths and weaknesses of some of the object-oriented features of Ada 95, particularly user-defined assignment.
