The Design and Optimization of Dividing Wall Distillation Columns

Abstract

For most separations fully thermally coupled distillation columns require significantly less energy than conventional arrangements. This paper describes a design model which provides a basis for investigating the degrees of freedom to minimise the energy consumption. The optimisation of fully thermally coupled columns is also discussed.
