Abstract

The Laplace transformation is known as one of the most powerful mathematical techniques for solving wide range of problems in engineering. For its application to practical problems, many authors have extensively studied methods of numerical inversion. On the other hand, the method of numerical transformation has not been studied very much. For this reason, most of the applications were limited to theoretical or numerical analysis and there were few applications to experimental analysis. To overcome this problem, both of the numerical transformation and inversion are studied in this paper. Numerical accuracy is evaluated and discussed using two test functions, sinusoidal and step function. A chart is presented for determining the parameters of computation under a specified accuracy. © 1991, The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. All rights reserved.
