How to represent and handle bipolar information has recently received a lot of attention. Being bipolar means that the information has a positive and negative part. In this paper, we consider asymmetric bipolar information (i.e. situations where positive and negative information are unrelated and should be processed separately). We propose a framework to represent and handle it with so-called credal sets, i.e., with convex sets of probability distributions. We also provide some illustrative examples. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
