Abstract

This research focuses on a comprehensive approach to operational processes in the domain of tank management systems which is important in running tank farm safely, smoothly and successfully. The main objective is to provide the necessary information about resources, stakeholders and relationships of all relevant processes related to tank management systems. The acquired information represents a basis for a detailed analysis and process visualization followed by a discussion. We used a BPMN 2.0 notation to create a process model, describe the most important aspects related to tank management systems and connect defined subprocesses. Furthermore, different complex subprocesses, such as loading operations and storage operations, were integrated and enriched with new details. In that way, we developed a standardized process model to meet the evolving demands of the industries to use precise and reliable data for business decisions. In addition, we conducted a process analysis to detect critical points and provide some solutions.
