Facial cosmetic surgery has become increasingly popular not only among the older adults who wish to improve their facial appearances and combat the effects of aging but also among middle-aged and younger patients. The advent of minimally invasive procedures has made facial esthetic surgery easily accessible and safe, which has contributed greatly to its popularity. Although conventional procedures such as rhytidectomy, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty are still widely used, there is a trend toward minimally invasive procedures such as Botox, dermal fillers, injection lipolysis, lasers, chemical peels, dermabrasion, and microneedling. These procedures are effective and preferred for several reasons, including the lack of need for extensive preparation prior to the procedure as well as reduction in risk of being under anesthesia. There is also the benefit of reduction in surgical complications and decrease in recovery time that would otherwise be caused by conventional procedures. This chapter will discuss minimally invasive facial cosmetic procedures as well as pre-procedure evaluation and complications that may arise with these procedures.
