Abstract

Traditional bone implants are prone to postoperative infection due to their poor corrosion and antimicrobial resistance. Thus in this work, based on the original titanium base, we modified and synthesized a novel amorphous spherical metal-organic framework analogue nanoparticles with neodymium ions doped into them. This new rare earth element doped metal-organic framework and hydroxyapatite were co-deposited on titanium dioxide nanotube arrays by electrochemical method which can save a lot of time and energy compared to the traditional coating process. Most importantly, new coating can not only improve the corrosion resistance of the coating by increasing the resistance of the titanium sheet in SBF but also improve the antibacterial ability of Ti base without damaging the good biocompatibility of the titanium.
