Abstract

Wood ash (WA) particles were incorporated at different loadings into epoxy resin, to study the effect of filler loading on mechanical properties, dynamic mechanical properties and thermal stability. The mechanical properties of epoxy -WA composites were better than pure epoxy. The storage modulus (E’) of the composites was found to increase due to the enhancement in stiffness. The viscoelastic properties revealed that there is a strong interaction between the polymer and the filler. Thermal stability of the composites was improved by the addition of WA. The morphology of the composites was investigated by scanning electron microscopic studies (SEM).
