Abstract

It is well established that noble metal catalysts for exhaust gases purification are not enough active in oxidant environments resulting from car engines with fuel injection. Better results can be obtained with Cu-modified zeolites. There are very numerous factors to be take into consideration for obtain a good, practical usable catalyst. It is proposed a combinatorial statistical model with seven level for optimization of the catalyst Composition and reaction parameters. The experiments were made in a pulse microreactor coupled to a chromatographic assembly which analyses simultaneous CO2, NOx, hydrocarbons, O-2, N-2 and CO2, Hydrocarbons and NOx are easy converted over Cu-HZSM-5 zeolites but for reduction more than 50% CO are necessary high Cu concentration in catalyst or more than 2 vol. % O-2 in exhaust gases.
