Abstract

The past decade has seen the growing up of multimedia technologies in the context of e-learning. Smarter platforms are needed to support lifelong learning anywhere, anytime. This paper presents a new multimedia resource ontology (MMRO). It first provides a background about knowledge bases, description logics and reasoning, and an overview of multimedia ontologies. After highlighting their limitations in the context of e-learning, MMRO is detailed in terms of main class hierarchy and assertions. Finally, we identify the next steps of possible future research works.
