There are many kinds of information in a diffraction pattern, some of which are not normally used, but all of which can be exploited to obtain useful knowledge about products and processes. The information includes the overall pattern, and selected features such as peak intensities, positions, widths, shapes, anisotropies, and deviations from the ideal (expected or random) pattern.
