Abstract
Psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory and hyperproliferative disease of the skin, scalp, nails, and joints. There is wide agreement that psoriasis is driven by interactions between the innate and acquired immune systems. However, the root cause of psoriasis remains unclear. This chapter reviews psoriasis' protean clinical manifestations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and management, and what has been accomplished to solve its long-standing riddle, particularly in the areas of immunology and genetics. © 2006 Humana Press Inc.
