Abstract

Evolutionary algorithms are heuristic techniques for finding approximate solutions of hard optimization and adaptation problems. Due to their ability to create innovative solutions, evolutionary algorithms are very well suited for applications in the domain of art. In this paper the system supporting human composer in the process of music composition with the use of evolutionary algorithm is presented. The architecture of the system as well as implemented algorithms and results of selected experiments will be presented. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
