Global data suggest that around 10% of Covid-19 patients remain unwell even after 3 months of getting infection and children are no exception. Several systemic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, irrespective of severity of infection, have been reported in patients during post-Covid-19 period. It has been hypothesized that hyperactivation of immune system, molecular mimicry and activation of neutrophil extracellular trap formation contribute to development of post-Covid-19 autoimmunity. Management of systemic autoimmune and inflammatory diseases may require nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, diseases-modifying antirheumatic drugs and immunosuppressives along with interdisciplinary supportive care depending on the type and severity of the clinical condition.
