Abstract

Some mutations found in birds cause the occurrence of aberrant plumages, in which are characterized by atypical colors for a given species. In this study we present the first records of aberrant plumages for three species of anatids: Amazonetta brasiliensis, Callonetta leucophrys, and Netta peposaca. In addition, we document new cases of aberrant plumages for Furnarius rufus, Paroaria coronata, Tyrannus savanna and Vanellus chilensis. The records took place from 2015 to 2022 in the municipalities of São Gabriel, Santa Margarida do Sul, and Cachoeira do Sul, located in the central portion of the Brazilian Pampa. The records presented here increase the knowledge about birds with aberrant plumages by reporting unprecedent records of aberrant plumages for three species and incrementing data for species which scarce information.
