Abstract

In this chapter we report on applications of single photon sources based on semiconductor quantum dots to quantum information processing. After a brief review of the quantum optical properties of quantum dots we introduce experiments concerning free-space and fiber-based quantum cryptography. Then, we describe first demonstrations along linear optics quantum computation using single photon emitters.
