Abstract

The principles of genetics is an important chapter as it unravels the complexities of genetics as they relate to babies and their families. Readers are provided with a foundation knowledge of the genetic make-up of the body and inheritance patterns. Some of the most common genetic disorders are explored alongside the impact on the family and the necessary professional support from those providing neonatal palliative care, including nurses and genetic nurse specialists.
