Abstract
Sections covering the distribution of rock types, geochemical provinces and geochronology are followed by the petrogenetic aspects of the individual rock types. Discussions of the influences of mantle heterogeneity, the lithosphere and the asthenosphere precede a discussion of the causes of Karoo volcanism. -A.W.Hall
