Abstract

The author describes the electrostatic properties of solid-liquid interfaces as a prerequisite for the understanding of the rheology and aggregative properties of suspensions and slurries which in turn are starting materials for the preparation of ceramic products. The discussion covers silver iodide, insoluble oxides, silica and clays; double layer theory; and electrokinetic phenomena.
