Abstract

In this chapter we wish to show how the concepts and methods of synergetics make possible a new approach to the analysis of electroencephalograms (EEGs). We came across EEGs in the introductory chapter on the exploration of the brain. The microscopic origin of the electric fields that are measured in EEGs is not entirely clarified. Thus in the spirit of synergetics, we shall consider these fields as macroscopic phenomena that we wish to study by means of the concepts of this discipline.
