Abstract

Studied the acquisition and the generalization of "wh"-question responses in 3 children and a young adult with autism. Human Ss: Three male and female Japanese preschool and school-age children (aged 5 yrs 10 mo to 8 yrs 10 mo) (autism). One male Japanese adult (aged 18 yrs 3 mo) (autism). Ss were taught to answer questions using picture cards and either vocal feedback training or visual prompt training. Generalization was assessed in tests of nontraining pictures, in-vivo situations (self-doing and other doing), sentence reading, and listening.
