Abstract

Questions discussed include the analysis of the meaning of "pleasure," the conclusion being that the use of the word is not parallel to that of pain, the interpretation of masochism, the problem of the criteria for determining whether pain is felt in cases where response is not normal, the connection between pain and anxiety, and the application of the concept of identity to a pain or emotion.
