Abstract

The growing trend toward applying water cooling to electric machines has prompted an investigation into the corrosion of the copper pipe which is contained in the internally water cooled power cable. Practical tests of the corrosion of the copper pipe by flowing pure water were carried out using an actual power cable under practical conditions with regard to conductivity, temperature, oxygen content of water, and flow velocity. Corrosion of the copper pipe was determined from analyzed data on an ion exchange resin and filter.
