Abstract

Indonesia is the largest population of Internet user in South East Asia, with a prevalence rate of Internet addiction higher than most of other South East Asian countries. Currently, efforts have been made to gather representative and reliable data on Internet addiction, along with the establishment of a behavioral addiction health center in Indonesia. One of the significant milestones achieved was the development of Kuesioner Diagnostik Adiksi Internet (KDAI). The construction of KDAI involved Indonesian adolescents as the study subjects, thus able to reflect their unique characteristics, sociocultural environment, and upbringing. It consisted of 44 items that were categorized into 7 domains, thus allowing clinicians to tailor and monitor treatment according to patient’s need. Equipped with its high reliability, validity, objectivity, and practicality, KDAI is an excellent tool for screening and diagnosis of Internet addiction for the Indonesian population.
