Abstract

This chapter will provide a brief overview on the existing body of knowledge on medical approaches to homosexuality in the USSR and elaborate on the conceptual framework on which this book is based. This chapter will also discuss autobiographies and diaries, which Yan Goland encouraged his patients to produce and which proved invaluable sources for this book.
