Abstract

The high-definition gluteal contouring process demands a careful and detailed knowledge of the gluteal ideal aesthetic shape, the underling anatomy of the buttock itself, and the buttock frame which must include the superior thigh and the lower back. The technique must recreate an adequate smooth round contour as well as a waist-to-hip ratio according to the patients' desires. The planning process requires an artistic sense to define and chose the management that each area requires. The systematic division of the gluteal region in areas allows a better analysis and ensures the reproducibility of the results. The use of third-generation ultrasonic emulsification as well as other tools, such as vibration and energy powered skin retraction, facilitates the procedure and enhances the recovery process and patients' outcomes. For gluteal augmentation, additional fat grafting is a tool of paramount importance to achieve the desired volume in a safe and natural way.
