Abstract

This autoethnography explores a daughter and mother’s navigation of the meaning of disability in their lives. The narrative, crafted by emails, revisited journal entries, and phone conversations exchanged, delves into issues of independence, representation, mistrust of the medical profession, faith healing, and acceptance. The need for resistance to the prevalence of medical models of disability is illustrated.
