Abstract

The application of digital vector maps faces some yet to be resolved issues such as digital copyright protection, data authentication, data source tracing, for example. This chapter focuses on the topic of 2D vector map data hiding which provides potential solutions to above issues. The particularities of vector map watermarking are first summarized. The state-of-the-art of the research on the vector map watermarking is then reviewed by categorizing the current research into three sub areas. In addition, three schemes are presented towards resolving some open issues of three sub areas. We outline some future works at the end of the chapter. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.
