Abstract

A variety of topics were discussed at the conference: a method for developing simplified mathematical models for calculating heat transfer in industrial furnaces; the behavior of pilot burners whose hot gas jets were deflected by a cross current; some problems encountered in using laser-doppler anemometers in combustion systems; sound emission from flames occurring in swirl combustion chambers; reduction of noise caused by combustion; prediction of starting surge in furnaces fired with liquid and gaseous fuels; two radiation measuring methods capable of determining the total radiant energy; emissivity and mean radiation temperature.
