Abstract

The imageless navigation in Birmingham Hip Resurfacing has proven to be a ready-for-use, reliable and userfriendly system for the positioning of the components. With this system, a reliable, significant valgus positioning of the femoral component was achieved without the risk of femoral notching. The possibility to simulate positions and sizes in real-time allows an optimal adaptation to patient-specific conditions. The socket can be placed reliably with correct inclination and anteversion. In our opinion, these benefits clearly weigh against the disadvantage of an additional time cost of about 15 min. © 2007 Springer Medizin Verlag Heidelberg.
