Despite the fact that the use of double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWCNTs) in the fields of nanoelectronics, energy storage, and biomedicine was already realized, the full potential of DWCNTs is still not implemented in applications. The further development of synthesis methods and revealing and thorough understanding of the growth mechanism of DWCNTs is the key to the synthesis of nanotubes with required properties. This chapter reviews the current status of the research on synthesis of DWCNTs. It includes the description of synthesis methods of DWCNTs, such as arc-discharge and CVD methods as well as the approach of synthesis from filled single-walled carbon nanotubes.
