Proper use and understanding of a wide array of laparoscopic equipment and instrumentation greatly aid the team, s ability to meet the technical needs of more challenging operative situations. While not all of the technology presented in this chapter is necessary to complete these operations safely, they provide some examples of how to utilize technology and instrumentation to make bariatric cases run smoothly. New technology will undoubtedly emerge, adding enhanced efficiency and safety (see Appendix).
