Abstract

This paper describes a new software tool called “VesselPathTracker” that was developed to track anatomical features of any segmented voxel model for application in implant non-ionizing radiation protection. A voxel model is a three-dimensional representation of the human body in the form of a numerical array of indexes that identifies each element as belongs to a particular tissue or organ. A valid technique to virtually positioning of an implant within these models while maintaining their anatomical constraints is an elaborate and very time-consuming process. To solve those intricacies in an easy way, a new software tool was developed and is presented here. With this tool, three pacemaker’s leads implantation locations within the cardiovascular system were identified as a representative example.
